Tablets are the in thing in today’s gadget world. The launch of the iPad has, among other things, set things rolling in the tablet world, and everyone and his brother is trying to buy a tablet and show his neighbor; especially some of the devices that come with offers like free cruise deals, free plane tickets and the like. The question remains, though, how good are the tablets, how capable they are? For avid gamers like myself, the question always is going to be, are the tablets gonna replace the portable game consoles, or not? I am thinking, maybe yes, they would. After all, a game console is just that, a game console, while a tablet is many things at once. The tremendous technological marvel that goes into making a tablet gives it a clear and bright screen, high speed RAM, ergonomic and good handling, and fast processor performance. Now read this and think what you want in a good game console. What else but a clear, bright screen, good RAM, good handling and fast processor. So if your tablet is giving you all that, and more besides (it’s basically a full fledged computer, after all) why would you need a portable game console? There’s something good to be said about “dedicated” gaming, of course. But a tablet can be made into one – I mean, just set up a drive to be a game console, so that when you enter it, you leave out everything else and get gaming. Since that’s also perfectly possible with a tablet, it takes away the one thing that a dedicated gaming console had going for itself – dedicated gaming. So, tablets are really going to replace the game consoles, if you ask me.
