I don’t know why but large chunk of portable LCD screen are coming out from countries like Japan and Korea. Therefore, there is hardly a surprise that a Japanese company called Century has come out with a portable LCD screen. Unlike other LCD screen, this latest product from Century has a built-in Wii sensor bar. Hacker uses Sony PS3 to crack passwords!

This is really surprising that the powerful processors in Sony’ PlayStation 3 gaming console now have another use that is cracking passwords. I am not joking; PlayStation3 is really great asset for hackers to crack passwords. Hacker Security-Assessment.com security consultant Nick Breese claimed that the Sony PlayStation 3 with its Cell processors can crack passwords 300 times greater than Intel hardware is capable of. He presented his new report at the Kiwicon hacker conference in Wellington, New Zealand. He claimed that speed is the most important factor in ‘brute force’ password cracking. He implemented common ciphers and hash functions with the use of vector computing. Nick pushed the current upper limit of 10–15 million cycles per second, while in Intel-based architecture; he pushed current up to 1.4 billion cycles per second. Breese, who has been working on the project, called “Crackstation”, for the past six months, used the Sony PlayStation 3 gaming console for his break-through research. IBM, Toshiba and Sony created the PS3′s cell broadband engine technology. The companies collaborated together to create a Cell, a processor which consists of one scalar processor and eight vector processors. He reported that the design of PS3 is very suitable for cryptography. While Intel processors are designed to do all kinds of complex calculations, whereas the PS3 is good at doing simple things very quickly. Sony brings downloadable media to PS3

Sony is doing something new in this Christmas as the company will offer downloadable media content for the system on a worldwide basis. The company’s online and digital distribution platform will be fully integrated into the PS3 browser and simply known as PlayStation Network. But Sony has not disclosed any specifications about downloadable media. The only update we have is that, Sony will distribute some high-definition game footage and related documentary clips. Japanese PS3 owners with Internet access will be able to download content onto their PS3 hard drives. But this time, Sony is coming up with non-game related programming. Mega Drive Portable clone available at Play Asia

Popular games consoles in the cyber world are increasingly falling prey to piracy. The low-priced cloned versions always do not match the quality of the originals. However, their low prices do not leave much space for complaint from gamers with low budget. The TechToy Mega Drive officially licensed by Sega is having competition from its clones – the first one being from Brazil and currently a more recent cloned device has been discovered on Play-Asia.com. The 16-bit video games console from Sega has been popular in Brazil and Europe, but had been unable to attain any significant share in the American and the Japanese gaming market. In North America, Mega Drive goes by the name Genesis to avoid trademark related confusion. The Mega Drive had huge initial success, when it was first released as the then gaming world was tired of the 8-bit NES. After Nintendo arrived, it is becoming increasing difficult for Sega Mega Drive to retain its popularity.
